Generic boundaries within Mollisiaceae are poorly resolved and based on phylogenetic evidence the family included species placed in Acephala, Acidomelania, Barrenia, Bispora, Cheirospora, Cystodendron, Fuscosclera, Hysteronaevia, Loramyces, Mollisia, Neopyrenopeziza, Obtectodiscus, Ombrophila, Patellariopsis, Phialocephala, Pulvinata, Tapesia (= Mollisia), and Trimmatostroma. trunculus Natica nitida lvis Amphidesma prismatica Trochus umbilicatus. The results show that endophytism is common throughout the Mollisiaceae lineage in a diverse range of hosts but is infrequently attributed to Mollisia because of a paucity of reference sequences. which were submitted to Dr Fleming of King's College, Aberdeen, and named. The phylogeny of Mollisiaceae was reconstructed and compared using the nuc internal transcribed spacer rDNA (ITS) barcode and partial sequences of the 28S nuc rDNA (LSU) gene, largest subunit of RNA polymerase II ( RPB1), DNA topoisomerase I ( TOP1), and the hypothetical protein Lipin/Ned1/Smp2 ( LNS2). In this study, morphology and multigene phylogenetic analyses were used to explore the taxonomy of Mollisiaceae, including Mollisia, Phialocephala, and related genera, using new field collections, herbarium specimens, and accessioned cultures and sequences. Unidentified endophytes, including strains that produced antifungal or antiinsectan secondary metabolites, were isolated from conifer needles in New Brunswick and placed with uncertainty in Phialocephala and Mollisia, necessitating a more comprehensive treatment of these genera. The combination of indistinct morphological characters, more than 700 names in the literature, and lack of reference DNA sequences presents a major challenge when working with Mollisia.

After that the HOPE sculpture will have to do all the heavy lifting again.Mollisia is a taxonomically neglected discomycete genus ( Helotiales, Leotiomycetes) of commonly encountered saprotrophs on decaying plant tissues throughout temperate regions. Prismatica (courtesy of The Garment District Alliance and DOT Art) is around until January 30th. The outdoor display consists of 25 six-foot-tall pivoting prisms, which you can spin (please bathe your hands in sanitizer afterwards) as they reflect the colors of the rainbow - day or night - and fill the plaza with musical sounds (but never filling that void in your life formed by the pandemic). I have not seen rainbows or other humans for quite some time. While dancing street crystals may not have been my thing pre-pandemic, I get it - I too would very much like to be outside of my apartment, zoning out to their brilliance right now. The open-air light show seems to be bringing people a little bit of joy, or at least content for their Instagram feeds that depicts joy, even if the original poster stopped feeling anything about 3 months ago. Prismatica, an interactive "glimmering winter kaleidoscope," is now beaming hopeful hues into eyeballs at Broadway between 39th and 40th streets. As we approach one year of living in a world of isolation, it is no surprise that New Yorkers want to step out of their black & white home lives and go hug a rainbow in the streets of Manhattan.
